Mala’s White Reindeer

A rare white reindeer has been spotted close to a road in Mala, Sweden. Teacher Siv Piojo took photos of the beautiful and majestic creature while on holiday. She was returning to her cottage when she saw it.

White reindeer are extremely rare and are regarded as as omen of good fortune in many Nordic countries. In Norse mythology four stags eat amongst the branches of the World Tree, Yggdrasil.

In The Earth Emperor’s Eye a white stag appears on four ocassions. It represents the Earth Spirit and is a guardian of Mother Nature. The tale also has a Samoyed dog as the ‘Voice of Nature’.  His name is Malachi – which means ‘Messenger’. Mala is short for Malachi.

The magic just keeps coming.
