Luke Donald alarmed by baboon

Luke Donald, one of the world’s top golfers, was pursued by a baboon on the fairway at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa. The golfer was alerted to the monkey’s presence by his caddie, who cried, “Watch out!”  Startled, Luke quickly took evasive action and was unhurt by the muscular animal’s surprise appearance.

Readers of The Earth Emperor’s Eye will be curious by the host of coincidences connected to the ‘Monkey Business’.

Curious connexions

Apart from the golf-course, the Sun City complex hosts a famous luxury casino – so we have another in a spate of natural world incidents linked to gambling.  The Earth Emperor warns we are gambling with all our futures! It’s ironic, too, that the complex includes a nightclub named Silhoutte and the Entertainment Centre is reached by crossing a Bridge of Time!

What’s more, the Sun City complex borders the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, home of an array of African wildlife, including the ‘big five’ most dangerous game animals in Africa – the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and White/Black rhinoceros. Perhaps the baboon’s actions are also designed to protest against big-game hunting?

Art lover

Lastly, the golfer in question, Luke Donald, was born and raised in Hemel Hempsted, Hertfordshire, so, from the story’s perspective, he’s one of our own! Luke finished the round 10 under par!

Luke has a passion for art too, dabbling in oils and cherishing others work.

Finally, we shouldn’t overlook young Sarah’s song, ‘Who is the Monkey’?

It’s all rather strange.
