The Die is Cast

An extremely rare albino bottlenose dolphin has been seen off the Italian coast, near the sea port of Ravenna. It’s been named Albus and is thought to be the first of its kind spotted in the Mediterranean.

The Rubicon river feeds to the coastal plain of Ravenna. The idiom ‘Crossing the Rubicon’ means to pass a point of no return, and refers to Julius Caesar’s army crossing of the river in BC49. The river is perhaps most known as the place where he uttered the famous phrase  ‘iacta est alea’ – the die is cast! Readers of The Earth Emperor’s Eye will be very familiar with this saying!
