Arturo, the depressed polar bear will not be removed from a sweltering zoo in Argentina, despite half a million signatures on a global petition to transfer him to chilly Canada. The director of Mendoza zoo say that at age 28 Arturo is too old to relocate safely.
The bear is believed to have become depressed after his long-term companion died two years ago. He’s often shown abnormal behaviour, shaking his head from side to side, pacing his enclosure and bearing his teeth.
It’s all rather sad.
